What is laser therapy?
Laser therapy is a drug-free, and surgery-free treatment option performed by applying low-power lasers to an affected area of the body. This non-invasive laser therapy for pain relief is supposed to offer long-term healing. But does it really? Does laser therapy work?
Laser therapy works because… it has an inflammatory effect!
Laser therapy uses light to penetrate through the skin into tissues. It has been used by physiotherapists since the ‘80s to treat a wide range of conditions. Even though it only penetrates a few millimeters, it can have a profound effect on tissue healing. Laser therapy for pain relief, has been shown to relieve the pain efficiently – partly because of its anti-inflammatory effect, partly because it heals damaged tissue.
