Suboxone is a prescription medicine used to treat adults who are addicted to opioid drugs (either prescription or illicit) as part of a complete treatment program that includes counseling and behavioral therapy.
Suboxone combines two active substances: buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine helps in the reduction of physical cravings while the patient is on detox. Naloxone is a protective agent preventing people from drug abuse by causing immediate withdrawal symptoms if a drug is injected or dissolved.
However, as with any prescribed medication, the use of Suboxone has both upsides and downsides and may interact with other pharmaceuticals or herbal substances. Always inform your doctor about any underlying health conditions you suffer from or any medications you are taking.
