Stem cell therapy is making use of patient’s own stem cells to help the process of repairing damaged tissues and injuries. This kind of therapy is in the field of regenerative medicine that is rapidly growing and continuously being developed. Stem cell therapy is used to reduce joint pain, improve motion and flexibility, and treat tendon and ligament tears. Currently researchers are also paving ways to use stem cell treatments for common chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and neurodegenerative disease.
The treatment is an invasive technique involving injecting stem cells into the affected area with the use of anesthetic or other substances. The procedure is usually done in the doctor’s clinic. Stem cells are “unspecialized” cells that can be extracted from one part of the body and used to replace cells in another part of the body that is damaged.
